So my brother (I've become a toyota guy - 97 40th anniv LC, 96 4runner, and 08 FJ trail team) is looking at possibly getting a 95 Land rover with 130,000 miles and a v8.

Anything I should tell him to look into prior to purchase?

I understand that it's an older vehicle and those can have all sorts of issues but is there a general list of areas to look into and/or are there certain options/models to look at (factory lockers, etc)?

Thanks for any info (now I'll quietly return to the toyota section of this forum)!

ps - the price tag is 2800.00...good or bad???

Yes. First, tell him to find out which model Land Rover he's looking at, then report back. In the meantime, check for RUST, leaks, condition of seals and hoses, service history, have it pre-purchase inspected by someone familiar with them, etc.

And if it's a 1995 NAS Defender 90 for $2,800 tell your friend to steer clear and give me the seller's info.

130k is pretty long in the tooth... that thing will probably have all sorts of cute squeaks, whistles, and groans.
