Looking at upgrading.

I'm planning a trip from Michigan to Tuktoyaktuk, hopefully the latter part of next Summer depending on the whole global pandemic thingy, and want to upgrade my current cap setup to a pop-up slide in camper.

It will be going on a 1994 F-250 CCLB, I'll have a swing away spare tire carrier on the rear, so I need a camper that does not extend past the end of the bed.

Being unfamiliar with the ins/outs of these, other than the basic roof/canvas/overall condition, is there anything I should be aware of, or looking for when buying used? Pros/cons of certain types? Brands to stay away from? Brands to look for?IMG_20200820_174955~2.jpg

My 2¢... All Terrain Campers of Sacramento are your best value. A very small company, with an excellent reputation for customer focus.

If you’re going new, they will do custom work.

On any of the older pop ups, look for leaks (in particular around all openings), mold, rot in the lift boards and cab-over wood, stressed or damaged wood around the tie down points, ensure systems work, and use your judgement on overall condition. Has it been maintained?

The one camper I personally would not choose is a Phoenix, but some folks love them.
