Looking for battery box rust removal suggestions

Replacing both of my coach batteries, and pulled out my very rusty battery boxes. Looking for suggestions on how to clean the boxes before I plasti dip them. Auto parts store said Coca Cola. Seriously. Any other suggestions?

I’ve had good luck, and fun, using a battery charger and washing soda to do electrolytic rust removal. It’s all over YouTube.

But sand blasting is far faster, easier, and better.

I use Total Boat. Easy to apply even with a hand sprayer. Let it dry and paint over, or sand and prime.
