I have my new TRX on order and should arrive before end of the year and need to figure out how to make it work for camping since I sold my 4x4 ambulance conversion. Problem is TRXs have a pretty low payload.
So I started looking into the lightweight pop up topper options and even the RSI smartcap. I’ve looked into Go fast, fwc project M, camp ovrlnd, etc…. Problem is every review out there only reviews one. And of course they say it’s the greatest.
I’m hoping we can get a thread going of people saying the positives and negatives of each set up.
My main concerns/objectives:
-I need something that can hold up to high speed shenanigans. It is a TRX after all
-a 6 month lead time is definitely worth something compared to a 12mo
-price is always a factor. If I’m going to spend $15k vs 7k- it better be for dang good reasons.
- I camp with my girlfriend, so being able to get out of bed without removing panels is a plus. Honestly this factor may be the only reason I haven’t ordered the GFC already.
I may just resign to getting a trailer which may make more sense anyways since I camp about one or two times a month.
