Looking for some Canon G11 (any G series) advice

Just purchased a new G11 (as my Christmas present to myself). Been using my wife's D90, but wanted my own camera. This will be used primarily on my bike and rig trips. Lots of outdoor photography.

Looking for some advice on any options, websites, shooting tips, anything at all.

Thanks
Andy

Sorry I am still learning all about mine but I did find thru research if you are looking for adapters to use filters, telecoverters or special macros, Lensmate is the place for the G10/G11 cameras.

http://www.lensmateonline.com/

I used this adapter "A" and "B" to use a 72mm UV filter on our Death Valley trip and it greatly reduced glare and washout in bright light. It also protects the lens from dirt or damage since it's "seals" the camera lens inside the adapters. I also have the A and C adapter for my teleconverter but haven't had a chance to really use it yet.

There is a thread going on regarding the G11 in this forum. Do a search for it.

Have fun and post up some pics. :D

Strive to use your G11 like an SLR, except you get to use the rear screen.

Use it in the proper mode for your situation (P, Av, Tv, or M).

Set the "custom" button (top-left on rear of camera) to adjust your White Balance. Very common adjustment. Get used to using that adjustment.

Use the camera on a tripod, and the slowest ISO possible.

Try shooting in RAW and adjusting in Canon's Digital Photo Professional (DPP) or Lightroom, if you have it.

Learn how to under and over expose using knob on top left. There will be many images that are not medium tone. Recognize and adjust for those.

Try manual focus, and moving the focus point.
