Dear Expedition Portal Community,
I have been reading many threads on this website about vehicle selection and I have finally decided to go with a VW Westfalia van for the trip I plan to take in January 2015 from Canada's Northwest Territories to South America.
I am requesting your help in finding a great van. I am in search of a van that will be loved by all during the journey.
I have been searching the internet for something adequate. What features should a van have for this type of journey?
I am thinking is: #1 priority-excellent mechanical shape. Other priorities:no structural rust, clean inside, swiveling seats, automatic or manual but manual is more fun.
I am located in the Northwest Territories so I am willing to travel to pick up the van. I would prefer if the van was located in Alberta, British Columbia or northwestern USA. Montreal would also work because my father lives there could inspect and ship to Calgary by rail.
My budget is 14K for the van. The right van for a bit more could be considered.
Thank you for the help
