Lowering a van?

I found a 4x4 dodge with a 400 I maybe interested in..

The owner says it wanders. Not good since I need to pull a 8K lb TT. He didn't know who converted it.

What would it take to lower this? Owner says 4" blocks can be removed but the shocks would be to long. Other than smaller road tires.. is that all it would require to lower 4"? And would that cure the wander?

Thanks

Get a ford. The $5k he is asking for dumping his "project" is not worth the hassle. You could pick up a very nice gas e-350 for that kind of money and probably a solid powerstroke. Save your cash and do a ujor 4" total lift conversion and have a tow vehicle that will last forever and have great junkyard parts availability for many many years.

That thing looks scary! Isn't a Dodge a Unibody design? How does that work with a Dodge pickup frame under it?

Anyway, the wander is most likely due to poor steering geometry from too high of a lift, worn out steering components, bad ball joints, huge tires, sketchy mounts between body and frame, or most likely a combination of all of these.

Yup.. Bunch of money and time. I feel its worth around 2K But last time I offered what I thought it was worth,, I thought the owner was going to show up and try to kick my ***..

Everyone factors in "sentimental value" to some extent, but some are more passionate about it then others.
