LX470 AHC Service-Question

So, my wife took the vehicle down to the local Lexus dealer to ask about having the AHC system serviced. Vehicle has 210K and it's never been serviced. I'm hoping to extend the life of it. The dealer told her that they do not service them. No flushing the fluids with new. They only replace parts when it fails. Is this right? Or does this guy need to go back to school?

The Lexus dealer in Tucson recently flushed and re-filled my LX 470 system and checked the accumulators. Like any system it should be maintained and serviced regularly...

oy I disagree!!! if you have 210K miles and have never messed with the AHC; don't touch it. with the AHC the it varies with model year! I am no expert all I can say is what I personally have dealt with. I had a 99 LX470 with 100K and had no issues with that version of the AHC; I now have a 2006 LX470 and had globes, fluids, and other junk replaced! I am out of warranty now so if anything does break I am going to switch out to regular suspension set up like Old Man emu or something else. Older models seems to have more durable parts.

I don't know if service differs from year to year but according to the scheduled maintenance for 04-05 LX 470's there is a drain and refill on the AHC fluid every 60,000. miles.

AHC should be flushed every 60k. If its never been done in 210k then I might expect problems soon if you are not already experiencing them. What the tech told you is a good example of why I never take any vehicle to the dealer. Lots of info on this subject over on MUD. Its pretty easy to flush yourself and quite necessary to keep the system operating correctly.

Yep, service it yourself. I bought two cans of fluid from Toyota at $40 each and flushed until all fluid was clean and red. Only took about an hour maybe. Mine rode smoother after the flush and had been flushed 40,000 miles prior.
