I have a screen shot that I am trying to take a highlighted image from and get it to the desk top. I tried dragging it last night but that doesn't work, what is it that I need to do? Thanks in advance.
I simply love how powerful an application as simple as Preview is on the Mac. It can view everything... and do so many nice little editing tweaks without having to open iPhoto or Photoshop. Heck, did you know you can combine and annotate PDF's in Preview now?
Anyway... it is nice that so many in this community are also part of the Mac community.
Uh oh. I must have an antique version of Preview, as seen in the pic below. What I've done for the longest time is hit the command key-shift key-4 key and marquee just the area of the screen I wanted instead of a full screen capture. But that generates a PDF pic which I have to open in Preview, then export as a jpeg to my desktop, in order to open it in my CorelDRAW so I can resize it smaller, and finally export it as a lower dpi jpeg back to the desktop........... pant, pant....
Ya learn something everyday... they're TIFF files, though. Probably doesn't make any difference for little screen captures, but I still have to drop them into CorelDRAW to convert them to JPEGs since TIFFs aren't usable to plop them into these posts.....?
......wait... I can answer my own question, the portion of the screen I want to capture can be selected in the Grab, saved to my desktop, opened in Preview, and exported as a JPEG back to the desktop. That chops two 'hoops' out of what I was doing before, the conversion from PDF to JPEG, and opening Corel altogether.
