Max Coupler question?

I have a question on the Max Coupler. Can you slide the 2" section of the coupler into the receiver of the vehicle and attach a ball to the yoke portion of the coupler? All the pictures I have seen has the yoke bolted to a drop down hitch which slides into the vehicle receiver and the 2" square portion of the coupler slides into a 2" tube on a trailer.

Thanks ...

Yes it can physically be done that way, but it's not the way the coupler was designed or tested.

Where's the best place to buy a Max Coupler? I was set on doing a pintle hook but keep reading that off road they are super noisy. I'm now looking into the Max Coupler. Just trying to find the best source to buy one from..

I can testify to the pintle being noisy. I used to tow trailers in Afghanistan with hummers and 5-tons. Despite the vehicle's diesel engines being kinda loud in the cabin, the knocking of the ring against the hook was even louder going up and down the mountainous rough roads over there. For the highway and improved roads they are great but off road its very annoying.
I have seen the Max Coupler in a couple of different places. The cheapest I have seen is Kilby Enterprises. There may be cheaper ones out there, but that's the cheapest one I saw at $225.

Kilby is migrating to a new website call CUOffroad. Same price there. He recently made some big improvements to the unit. I had the older version for over three years and after thousands of miles it was getting sloppy. The new one has a very solid yoke pivot that is greasable. Also he added some small rods to the yoke ears that make aligning the two ends much easier. If you still have the original version I strongly recommend an upgrade to the new yoke.
