Military Overland Trailer

Hey everyone,

Sold my last two trailers, been awhile since I have posted. I have a new build with a new cool frame. It's from Shutt Industries built in 2011 as a military generator trailer. To my surprise when I got home I started trying to fit some metal with the welding magnets and it wasn't sticking, it was aluminum. The tongue, mount points, axle assembly and axle are the only steel. It is held together but huck bolts. Pretty cool base I found for sale in Dayton, Ohio and a humvee body manufacturer. Apparently mostly for foreign countries still using the humvee.

To take out the huck bolts you just cut the huck bolts off and punch through as seen in one of the pictures.

I hope everyone is looking forward to the build I'll attach the SketchUp idea soon with more pictures of the box I have done.

Lights work and everything, was pretty pumped about that. I did have to get a 12pin to 7pin connector which wasn't cheap but still works.

Some more work of the box which is 1.75x1.75 steel tube. Have a local supplier, 25' pieces for $36. Great deal.

Also brave enough to be judged on my welds. Just a flux core as I weld outside all the time.

Hey there starting to come along everyone. My HD hinges came into today. Started to install them for my doors. I was originally going to have gas strut activated doors but decided that a swing was more efficient for what we want. More room for hanging stuff and storage in general.

Let me know what you all think so far. It's coming along. After this I think I'm going to clad.

I've been cladding the trailer with HDPE, I think it looks good. I used VHB tape underneath to stick and then self tappers inset into the panel. I wish I had spent more money on panels so there were no seams but I can always change that.

My question is how do I seal the gaps between trailer and door? I was thinking truck topper door seal the kind with aluminum and a seal?

Looking for thoughts all around, thanks.
