military trailer backspacing

Finally working on my M100 1/4 military trailer, needing new tires and rims, what's the biggest backspacing that your able to get away with, I know the stock wheels are 16X4.5 with a backspacing of 3.5 , going to stay with 16". Looking at either 215/85x16 tires or 245/75x16 don't want to go any wider than I have to, any suggestion anyone is running would be helpful, thanks

Sure you need the 31 inch OD? My M416 with 235/70 (on ahem Honda wheels with adapter) spills out beyond the wheel arch. Loaded with a yard of top soil there isn't much room between the tire and wheel arch.
I'm thinking 205/16 for next tires but may throw out the jeep wheel adapters for something thinner.

the stock 7.00x16 are about the same height so I want to stick the that height, just want to go tubeless and new rims, trying to figure out if a 4" backspacing on a 16x7 rim will fit with out rubbing the inside
