Min height for using Anex

Collecting stuff to build up my trailer. Need to be able to use an annex so if I can't make the height work I'll plan on vehicle mounting the tent.

Not all annexes are the same. The newer ARBs don't have a fitted base anymore and my tent base has to be about 6'4 off the ground with my truck and the annex works fine; working backwards, the minimum height for my annex so that the reinforced base strip is still above ground a little would be around 5'6" but then what's the point? I'm 6'1" and would be banging my head on tent base. I think the correct approach is measure the tallest person in your family, add a few inches and that should be your "minimum" annex height.

Well the tallest would be me. The Anex would be more for extra sleeping space than a room to hang out. Basically for if my wife has a lapse of judgement and wants to come with me and the two boys. Sounds like hooking the tent up on the trailer will work for most trips and worst case I would have to mount it on the roof if I needed to use the Anex

We had an issue with our annex this weekend where water was pooling on our annex material (it currently at 4.5') and soaking in through the zipper because the material was bunched up on the ground. I made it so that we can raise the tent when we get to camp now.

An alternative approach is to go with an awning and awning tent kit; this provides lots of flexibility as an awning is always great when the weather is really good or bad and on special occasions it can be quickly converted into a tent but then the vehicle is stuck as a tent base. As schira-ki found out, the annexes are designed to be around 6' plus in height to make a room; less than this, the bottom bunches up, looks awful and does not stake down; very important if the weather is windy.
