I sure hope it's not Navara based, i could totally see Mitssan selling the Frontier as the USDM trucks for both makes and selling the Triton for both makes for the rest of the world. Here's hoping for the best though.
The latest reports are that Mitsubishi has been given responsibility for the platform design of the truck that will be used in the Renault-Nissan group. This would make the next L200/Triton model the base for the Nissan Navara and possibly Frontier.
I think that the Triton platform has proven itself enough that Renault wants the Mitsubishi design for their future trucks. Maybe we can get them to work on bringing back real SUVs next.
Remember though, USA is the wild card. The taxes on import trucks #1 and Mitsubishi famously stating that Americans are Pu$$1es and don't use 4x4's #2. That's pretty true.
