Mobil 1 offers two oil filters for my 09 Edge

2009 Ford Edge. Both the M1-209 and M1-212 are shown as recommendations, but I can't seem to find what the difference is between them and why there are two filter options for the same car. Pls advise

According to this website, they have different threads which is the most important. Sizing is slightly different as well. Might want to crawl under there and see what filter you currently have and cross reference that.

I worked at jiffy lube 20 years ago and can tell you that sometimes it’s just the length of the filter that’s different. I remember the Chevy s10 trucks were goofy like that. According to the vin check on the computer some trucks should get the small “car” size oil filter and some should get the longer filter. Same drivetrain, two interchangeable filters. No rhyme or reason for it.
