Motor Mounts Nissan Hardbody

Observer
I have a 1997 Nissan Hardbody that was in a slight wreck and the motor mounts are both needing replacement. I was wondering if these can be changed without removing the motor?

Thanks,
Tim

I personally don't know of any vehicle that you can't change engine mounts easily....

other than a disco 2 which is a pain the ***.

jack up engine remove and replace done..

a retard from LR with a degree in anti ergonomics designed the disco 2 lhs engine mount arrangement

fwd cars tend to have asinine motor mount arrangements, with serpentine belts going around them and such, but most RWD vehicles should be easy enough.

what makes the disco mounts such a pain?

Yeah I changed mine on my Hardbody with a 3.0 v6. Just a matter of using a jack in the right place and sliding it out. The mounts are known to fail during hard offroad use. The left side (drivers side mount) is the most common to fail as the rubber separates from the metal. Both sides use the same mount so if your pulling them from a used truck pull a passenger side mount as they are under less stress.

Here is what a failed mount looks like. Access is easiest thru fender.

I welded on a little chain to my new mount to prevent it from being overstressed and ripping again.

Rock Humper fabrication also offers upgraded poly mounts.
