i was thinking we should compile a list of modifications/gear we should all have, even for very basic offroading and camping outings. the do not leave home without list.

-spare tire
-jumper cables
-basic tools
-first aid kit
-fire extinguisher
-tire repair kit
-front and rear recovery points
-tow strap
-shackles
-flashlight
-batteries for flashlight

OK lets see the list ......

Good idea. Here are a few additions off the top of my head:

Spare flashlight.
Another spare flashlight.
Enough water and food to walk out of where ever it is you're headed - and a way to carry it on your back.
Radiator hose repair tape.
Spare fan or serpentine belts.
A tire repair kit will do you no good without a way to re-inflate the tire.
Gloves.
Hand cleaner - might seem silly but it can save a lot of mess.
Hi-Lift Jack and base.
Shovel.

OK we have a list of gear growing now some must do mods....

-tire upgrade...size if possible, even 1 or 2 sizes can give extra ground clearance...but at the least an upgrade to A/Ts...all season radials DO NOT CUT IT!

-some type of OBA, either permanant install or portable but an air source is a must

-shocks
-some type of storage for gear
-quality filters...yes there is a difference, and this is an upgrade
-recovery points fr and rr, if you do not have them install them

OK lets see some more...

I know there is another thread floating around on a list of things to bring.

I think the basic min list has been covered!

Has anyone mentioned communications? Not always useable, but can come in very handy. FRS, CB or 2m, can be useful out in the bush.

Gun. Knife. Common sense.

'Cause being part of the food chain is only good if you're on top of the pyramid.:gunt:

Add a lighter and sharpie to the list.

Some racheting straps, rope , and tarp are good.

Map of area

leaving behind a travel plan with a friend not on the trip.

sunscreen/aloe

foul weather clothes related to season of travel.

Toiletries and any meds you need for time going out plus a margin of error. ( gone on wheeling trips where diabetics didn't bring insuline. Not a good thing to find out about when they are crashing!)
