My Black EB E350 van version 2.0

As you might be able to tell from the title of this thread I couldn't come up with a cool name for my 2nd van. I purchased the van November of '15 in Atlanta and dove it home to socal with no issues. I'm planning on converting it to diesel, 4x4, and possibly adding camper top. My first van was purchased as a diesel and converted to 4x4 with kit from ujoint and installed by local shop. I'm planning on taking full advantage of that experience with this build. I purchased the '06 for about $5k when the average price was $12k. I had to replace a fender, hood, rear view mirrors and my wife n kids still give me a hard time about the interior when we are in Honduras on vacation. Because of the bad reputation of the 6.0 Diesel and the fact that I was planning on driving it and leaving it in Honduras I ended up doing egr delete, new/rebuilt ford fuel injectors, arp head studs, and what ever else was needed to bullet proof it. When i picked up the spring i was given 6" springs for the front and 8" for the rear. The shop that mod and powder coated a roof rack did a horrible powder coat job. They also used duck tape to install the hid ballast. This time around I purchased a very clean 2013 with gas engine. With the overall goal of being able to go on family camping trips to places like Monache Meadows where you need 4x4 to get there. While researching the 6.0 diesel headaches I learned that cummins diesel engines are very reliable and MG Metalworks is working on doing this conversion so I'm hoping he will throw one in my van also. I believe that the diesel conversion is going to take him some time but think he has the parts needed to put a F350 4x4 dif in the front. This van is my daily driver so I can't really do without it for too long. I'm spilling all of this here as it will help me later and hopefully other like me who lurk here and search the web looking for info. Sorry if its at all confusing. Here couple pictures of my van in its current state. I'm saving pennies for all of future upgrades.

I've been looking at the camp chef stoves over the past few weeks and went to costco to get gas and vodka and walked out with a new instant tent and the denali.

I did online chat with camp chef and was told that only difference between the different "models" is the accessories it comes with. The tent and stove will come in handy on our trip to zion national park in June.

Stove looks an awful lot like an Igloo cooler.

Weird, random thought: eskimos build igloos to stay warm...but igloo coolers keep things cold...hard to believe a better brand name couldn't have been conjured.

Being in SoCal, how will the diesel conversion pass smog? Not beating you up, as I DD a e350 w a 7.3, and have diesel LandCruiser I converted.

Any vehicle built after 1998 with a diesel - original or converted must be smog tested every 2 years in CA. For a conversion, you need all the smog equipment that came original on the engine you intend to swap, and it must be from the same vehicle class, and it must the same model year or newer. That means you would need exhaust after treatment and DPF.

If you can get out of CA, you may be OK, but CA is a problem.

Nice project though.
