Started with an old "Willys Trailer" for $150 off craigslist a few years back, cleaned it up, painted it black, herculined tub after patching rust holes and put new tires on it and towed it from Seattle to Long Beach WA and back last summer to carry my camping gear behind my 2012 JKU.
Since then-
- Disassembled, cleaned up rust and treated frame with POR 15
- cleaned up rust on bottom of bed and painted with flat black enamel rust stopping paint
- installed Timbren axleless suspension with 4" lift and 5x5 hubs to match JKU (removing original Dana53 rear axel and springs n shocks)
- installed 35" km2 tires on matching wheels to match JKU
- installed Lock N Roll hitch and receiver
- installed rear cross member and 2" receiver
- install steel plate across A of frame
- Herculined top of plate
- reassembled bed to frame
- built rack for RTT (going to buy a CVT Mt Rainier), hanging kayaks from rack sides
- ran wires for lights
Next to do
Cap rack ends and treat with POR 15
Build new fenders
Install lights on fenders and wire up
Paint fenders
Get a title /registration
Enjoy
Eventually figure out lighting /power as needed
