I opened the Fall 2007 issue of Overland Journal and see the picture of Simex Exteme Trekkers. My heart jumps a beat in anticipation that Simex are now DOT approved. Alas, it was not to be. Not that those rims aren't nice, it's just that Simex have been on my list for awhile.

Maybe some day I'll just pay the bucks and import a set.

By the way, that was a great shot the tyres.

For years I wanted those tires too. The tall skinny aggressive tire just isn't popular in the US. I even tried importing a set probably 6 years ago. It was a like a minimum order of 40 tires of the same size and tread pattern. They do have distributors in the US for other tires they do import. The DOT thing doesn't become an issue unless you get in an accident. Is that something you are willing to risk? At the time I was, I'm not anymore.
