My new Hundy

Well a little over a 2weeks ago I bought a 1999 LC with 90000 on the clock. It is the locked one.I brought it straight to the stealership and had them change the timing belt, water pump, T stat, hoses, and had a tranny flush. Over the week since i have had it back I have had to ad some coolant. Some one told me it may have to work the air out of the system. I did not think the 100,s had the head gasket issues that the 80's had. Should I be concerned? I am looking for suspension up grades now and have a question. What is the advantage of the Slee diff drop. My Tacoma has had the OME 2.5 for many years and it has been put through its paces. I have never had any issues. You would think if it was needed OME would have it on there parts list. My short list is as such:
OME 2.5 Heavy-- If not to harsh unlaiden, but needs to support an Eezi Awn 1600., and gear.
Arb sahara bar
Front Runner Wind cheeta
drawers
natl luna dual batt sys
some bits off my truck.
Thanks

The low coolant is definitely not related to the 80 series head gasket issue, as the 80 has a 4.5 liter straight six, and the 100 has the 4.7 V8. Apples and oranges, in more ways than one!

As to the Slee drop thingy I'm not an IFS guy, so I suggest you call ARB in Seattle and talk to their tech guys. They are very knowledgeable and will steer you in the right direction for spring rates too. If you haven't talked to them yet, you may find they have more than one "heavy" spring rate. For our Rubicon they had both a 175lb and 300lb heavy.

Pics are comin soon, right???

I have a 98 LC100. I would get the OME 863 (Medium Heavy I think), and not the 864's. I had the 864's, and besides sticking my rear end way high, the ride was harsh; so i switched to 863's and all is joyous. Unless you're carrying drawer systems, auxillary tanks and the likes, the 864 is too stiff. I also have custom front bumper, custom rear with dual swingout annd sliders, and the 863 is perfect.
Definitely get the Slee diff drop kit. if you are going to crank the T-bars to level with the new lift, your will need the drop kit. I ran without one and went through my CV-axles pretty fast, as well as getting a unsettling shudder under power, and when going uphill. Or you can just keep the T-bars down and enjoy your new stinkbug look!
I also have a Howling Moon roof top tent, full length rack, awning and 2 jerry cans, just as an idea of weight. I'm sitting right at about 6,300lb.

Thanks for the info. Yes I am not down with the stink bug look. Just to clarify I am aware of the different power plants between the 80' s and the 100's. Just curious if the Hundys have a issue with them to..

I guess I would have to ask how much coolant have you had to add in the past week? Its fairly common after draining the coolant system to have to add a little afterwards as the air pockets work there way out.
