My travel photography kit is complete. And it works awesome

I just completed my travel photography kit. I have the Fuji X-S1 and X10 cameras, an asus vivotab RT tablet, running windows RT. Installed a program called fotor. It works excellent with editing my photos.

I have a 1 TB Seagate harddrive for storage and just use the USB in my tablet to transfer photos from camera to hard drive via a card reader. This complete setup lives in one of two lowepro back packs. A smaller one for air/vehicle travel and a waterproof larger one for motorcycle where I have to keep my tablet in the pack as well. I feel this is a complete setup for travel with great results on image quality as well as portability.

glad to see you're building a system & not just buying cameras

I think this is where most get lost in the hobby

cant wait to see some of your work

Thanks, I have spent thousands and thousands on gear and lenses etc. I had a Fuji Finepix 9100 as my first serious camera. I then went to an Olympus E series kit using a 510, 500, e-10, 6 lens. es and a crap load of accessories. Then I sold that and bought into sony's alpha series, another 1400 dollar kit. I sat and looked at the new offerings from Fuji again, as I love the photos from them. So, I then wanted 2 cameras. I wanted a superzoom for getting wildlife etc up close into my photos. I chose the X-S1 for its build and image quality. I then wanted a range finder style camera for taking around towns and cities where long range is not needed. The X10 fit the bill as it has the same sensor and processor as the X-S1, so my photos will look the same no matter what camera I use, and 2, it was on sale for 199.99 at my local store.

I have run some test shots with both and both are amazing. Our first trip is to Nova Scotia next week. I am going to try to Process photos every evening while up there. I will hopfully get the day's pictures done that evening. The tablet with the editing app works great and I can edit fairly quickly. We also have two nokia 1020 superphones. The optical image stabilized 41 MP camera in them are quite amazing in their own rights. All my phones, tablets and computers are all connected via one drive so my photos from my phone go right to my tablet as well to get edited.

In the end, I wanted a very lightweight traveling system to take on our adventure bike and in our rigs. I think I have built a great one. Plus with no extra lenses, I can even take it all on hikes and bikes.

Your system is not complete!
It is a good practice to transfer cards to two separate hard drives. Hard drives fail, and when they do you will be glad you have a duplicate.

Update, I lucked out and got a new goodie for free. A camera grip for my 1020. I went to the local Black's Photography and asked if they might have one. The manager came out and said yes, I have to make a phone call on it first. So I waited. He came back and said, Our store is closing on Oct 12 and we are supposed to destroy some of the stock at a local level, He handed me the battery/camera grip and said have a good day. I was floored. 80 bucks saved. I thanked him profusely and went on my way with a huge smile on my face!

Well, Took the kit on the road today. We visited Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg. Amazing places to visit. I took a bunch of photos using my X10 all day. I need to edit them later. I can't wait to get at them, I got some awesome shots of the bluenose II. We enjoyed this road trip a lot. next up is the Citadel, Clock tower and downtown Hali tomorrow. More photos and editing. The complete kit is working as I intended and keeps everything very light!

Well, Im back from the trip, and everything performed as I intended them to. Both cameras, our two phones, and tablets captured and pp'ed the photos perfectly. We are 100 percent pleased with the kit as a whole and recommend these peices of equipment to anyone wanting a great system without all the added weight of lenses etc.
