Nature Machines Adventure trailer 2.0, m101a2 rebuild

Hello, first I want to say that I have really enjoyed this site. Great ideas and great people. So, I thought I would add a little of my own content.
Long time Jeeper and all around "getting in trouble"er. Having done this for years in my 1979 Golden Eagle CJ7 or my 1979 Cherokee Chief, it wasn't that difficult as a single guy or newly married to get out and get lost in the wild. Married with kids now but still enjoy the adventure of getting out there off the beaten path. With 5 kids and wife the dynamics have changed a bit so I bought a 2016 JKU Rubicon (my 95th Jeep) and started a m101a2 camper project. This worked great but I can see where we are going to need more room (and more food) so after dragging this trailer around the country for a while it's time to revamp.

So my goals with the new updates are to make unloading and loading at campsites easier and faster as well as making the camper more comfortable, spacious and more rugged (gotta get rid of the canvas even though I love the look). The plan is to make on board storage, give some equipment permanent homes, add a few more creature comforts, add some extra features and make the wife happy. This is where I am starting, I'm sure things will change but you have to start somewhere.

Adding a slide on the front for the stove and sink as well as a place for cooking utensils

Then I need to add a subfloor and use the space underneath for storage. We have a lot of sleeping bags to tuck away. The center will be a slide out drawer (haven't drawn that yet but looking at the MOR/RYDE drawers)

Have you truly owned 95 Jeeps? I've owned 50+ vehicles, 7 of those were Jeeps.

Well, yes. I have since bought two more. Some started off as well intentioned plans and were sold when someone liked it more than me. I currently own 8...i think. I have been doing this a while and really enjoy Jeeps, their history and their mechanics. Not to mention all the places they have taken me.

One of the best add-ons was this receiver hitch I made. It allowed carrying the extra stuff we needed for longer trips.

Well that took longer than I expected. I forgot how much stuff we were able to pack in the back if that trailer. All cleaned out and ready for upgrades.20180131_204805.jpg

The new roof height is going to be a little higher to compensate for the subfloor but should allow even more useable space inside and outside.

Subscribed...I have a M101A2 and love the way you are going with this build. Sadly, I am trading in my 2012 JKU Freedom for a new Tacoma. Good thing is I haven't yet replaced the axle on the trailer, so I don't have to worry about new adapters. Anyhow, we are planning a trip for next year along Rte 2 from PA to WA and then into Canada. I will be watching how you progress with this build. Do you plan on keeping the RTT on top of your new roof structure? How tall do you think it will be?

Thanks, the old RTT is coming off and a wider tent will take its place. This growing family thing is forcing us to upsize a bit. The top of the tent is going to be about 11 inches taller than the old set up. I am going to add a ladder to help climb up there and open that monster.

working on planning the sides and top. I want to make panels that open for summer camping and easier access to the inside of the camper. Cant wait to get a few more trips planned.

Hey mate,
Looking good! I am in the process of planning my M101 A2 build as well. Just curious (mine is in storage for winter). With the front two bows (closest to your tow point), it looks as if you are planning on sliding down through the two sleeves in the side of the trailer. How sturdy do they appear?
I was hoping to mount similar bows in either the front two, or any combination of the front three to support my RTT. Any issues with the weight of a simple rack and tent that you can see?

This build was on Expo many years back and used steel truck boxes on the side walls for storage.
