Need '85 4Runner Rear Seats

Mods please delete this if the cross-posting is not aloud. I posted a wanted add in the for sale section, but I figure this is probably the best place. If any of you have '85 rear seats you don't need, I'd love to take them of your hands. 86-89 are slightly different (so I've been told), and I'm not interested in all that's involved in retro-fitting 2nd gen seats. Willing pay shipping or arrange pick up.

The 86-89 seats should work just fine. You my have to trim about 1" of plastic on the upper mounting pin locations but all the holes are there. The mounting system of the split seats with the u shaped upper connection is better IMO.

What do you mean by trim plastic - the plastic surrounding the latch hinge behind the uppers? If I'm trimming that plastic, I'm moving the latch hinge, right? That's one of the things I don't like about trying to retrofit the 95's unless I'm misunderstanding you.

Where are you located and what's wrong with the old seats? If you're near me and you have the "rear seat delete" panel I'll trade you even up

I've got no old seats - rear delete panel from the factory. I'd like to keep it, but I also need a seat option for my daughter when she comes along. I'm in Louisville, KY.

I have an 85 and the seats that came in my truck (non-SR5) latched on to a single bolt. In later years and potentially the 85 SR5 the upper latch is integrated in to the rear of the seat an latches on to a bracket which is a metal hoop bolted to the wall of the runner. The hoop bolts in to the same hole my original seats bolt was mounted in. I just cut a little bigger hole for the upper latch mount (hoop), 1" by .5". All the lower mounts for the hinges are existing. I can take pics tomorrow if this is unclear. I have seats out of an 88 or 89 in my 85.

That doesn't sound too bad. Definitely easier than using the 95 seats. I was 'told' there were differences that would require some work and I should look for the 85 seats, but sounds like I have other options. Thanks!

I wouldn't worry...just get first gen and they bolt right in. One min with a box knife is the worst possible modification.

Good luck on the search. Call around town and see if any of the wreckers have a first gen on the lot.
