Need advice

I have a 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser, bought in 1981. Drove it for 8 yrs and parked it. Its in good condition and I want to refurbish it. I live in Montgomery AL and there is no one around here that specializes but there are some very good body/engine guys here. Should I go out of state to have this done? I'm guessing the costs for refurbishing will be $7-10k. What is it worth now and after refurb?? Thanks!

I have been contrasting land cruiser shop rehab out of state (proffitts etc) vs local engine and body shops...the prices I have from proffitts for basic restoration seem very reasonable when you start comparing piecing together the work...
I am sure you can do it cheaper but one stop shopping is nice too...
As for value I am no expert but I would think a 79 40 series stock with no rust is worth more than 8G...I have been looking at hacked up chevy conversions all month long on CL out here in AZ with folks asking more than that...

I bought some stuff from him when I had my Tacoma/4Runner. Great guy. Looks like he doesn't do LC's, but may be able to help out. At least give you some good local contacts, anyway.
