I have a 92 Cherokee with an RE 3.5 inch with full leafs. I am running some cheap pro comp es3000's I want to put somethign to make the ride a little nicer with out breaking the bank. Anyone hav ideas. I already missed out on the sale Edelbrock was having for their remote resevoir shocks. Dont wanna spend more than 300 on shocks.

Most folks I know are running rancho 9000s and loving the adjustablilty and those will be my next shock. Right now I am running some JKS speck shocks made by bilitien. They are good shocks but I want the adjustablilty of the ranchos. The other thing, mine have the resivoir on the uppers and I have had a little clearance issues with them due to my lift. Maybe go with the good shocks 2 at a time. If you haven't gotten any by april then you can see the issues that I had.

I'm running a 03 2.4 TJ. OME 2.5 lift kit.Ages ahead from my ex m38a1 with Monroes.I know ages ahead anyway...:smiley_drive:
I had to replace the OME shocks.I was pretty satisfied with the ride quality on and off road(some fire roads, light and harder trails etc)
I was in ahurry (DD) and OME was not available.Wanted to buy somethingbut didn;t know what.So i went with something adjustable.ProComp MX6...
Set them in the 2nd harder setting and forgot to change it.
Next time i'll buy it again.:coffeedrink:

I'm running Procomp MX6 reservoir on my JK and have been happy with the quality. I did have one leak, but they have a lifetime warranty... so it got replaced at no charge. I've also been happy with Bilstine(sp) and the OME stuff. The reservoir shocks are pretty cool but they do pose problems with clearence/mounting sometimes.

The best bang for the buck that I've worked with has been the Rubicon Express Twin tubes for that lift.

They give the Jeep a nice firm/predictable feel.

I've also found the Rubi mono tubes to be about on part with the bilstien 5100s.

And if you're looking for some bling.. I've been running a set of QA1 rebuildable shocks from OffroadOnly. They really start to shine once you start getting some speed offroad (which sadly doesn't happen that often).

Fox 2.0 remote reservoir on the front of my TJ....happy with them, but if I did it again I would spend the $$$ for the adjustable low speed compression circuit....

MX6 adjustables on the back due to huge changes in the load it carries....they are heading south after just a few months. Even on the highest setting, they just aren't up to the task after a few trips. They were fine when I installed them....not sure what direction I will try next.

Goodtimes what light is that in your avitar? any info? Another thing to consider is the weight of your rig loaded and unloaded. A non adjustable shock will shine at one end or the other. Go with quality and buy once.

Bilstein 5150. best bang for your buck, period.

rachos dont belong on an XJ, pro comp sucks at everything, any twin tube shock is cheap crap.

OME is pretty good, FOX rocks but youll pay for it.

Cool thansk for the advice guys. Like I said I am on a budget so I may have to do the 2 at a time route. But should I do the front first or the rear.

Mornings? Define "mornings." You must have a much broader definition of the term than I do, my friend. Oh - good morning, by the way!

BOT - good luck with the shocks, neighbor. :coffee: We central Texas people really should get together for a coffee sometime.

They come free with the purchase of a new BMW F800GS. :bike_rider:

(sorry, I'm a smart-a** in the mornings.....it's the headlight on my moto)

I can't comment on shocks I have not owned. I had the RE twin tubes- very rough ride. I now have the OMEs- pretty nice ride (for a short wb TJ) and reasonable price.

Scott,

I ran the Rancho 9000's for 4 years and they where alright. The adjustibility was fun for the first couple months, but then I never played with them again for 5 years. I recently replaced them with OME long travel shocks. I am impressed so far. The price was around 70 each corner. I dont think it really matters which one first, but I would probibly do the front.
