Need help with trailer brake and hub install

Am I retarded or is something wrong with my brake and hub kit? This is my first time putting a trailer together, sure, but the hub really should just slide on according to all the videos I've seen. Both the brake are hub are 12" diameter and I've researched online that people use these exact parts together fine. The hub lip is hitting the brake shoe instead of going over it.

So ridiculous! The brake shoes are assembled wrong! I just compared mine with online photos from others. How does this even get past their QC? Both the left and right brakes are like this.

That looks like somebody just moved the shoe to the wrong slot during handling them(or the parking brake cable got pulled on without a drum on). Looks like the left shoe in the picture needs to drop down so the half round slot sits on the post that the springs are on.

Probably happened in shipping. Since the drum was not installed a good bump from the side will dislodge the brake shoe.
