Need ideas for steps...

I need some ideas for steps used for slide in pickup campers...
My Dodge PW puts my camper door height at 40" on level ground.
I've looked at scissor type folding steps and they seem too wobbly at that height, and their pretty spendy $300+

One idea I had was to make the steps solid and just tip up flat to the back of the camper... It might even work out that the length of the steps would create a "roof rack" of sorts... then I need to add a rack to the front of the camper. We'll see what comes out.

So I'm looking for other alternatives... pictures speak volumes so I'd love to see what you all use to get into your campers...

Thanks,

You might try something like this. Bolt runs through the bottom of the steps and is pinned in place. Very stable and out of the way.

I would start with looking at how Casa Azul's flip up and stow. Probably won't work for everybody, but I think they're cool.

I made a two-step that slides into the receiver hitch. When attached as a step it gives you two steps then the third is the bumper and the forth up and into the camper. When traveling, I flip it over and use it as a storage platform and better ground clearance (departure).

I thought about that Louie, but since my PW is a short box and the camper is designed for a full length 8' box I have to leave the tailgate down... this means the receiver has to be extra long and I can't use the bumper.
I'm thinking a welded ladder type stairs which is hinged to the back of the camper. In haul mode it's flipped up and pinned to the back of the camper. Then I just pull the pins and let it swing down. The only problem I see is uneven ground.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion...
