Need some Ideas for my own camping/utility trailer

I am thinking of getting rid of one of the Jeeps in favor of a 4x6 utility trailer. The lighting is converted to LED, New tongue in 2" and 235 tires on a new axle. It needs to be blasted and painted. I am going to do it Pseudo-military trailer style. Going with a Flat OD green and putting a set of Soft 8's on it from my wrecked Jeep. I know absolutely nothing about RTT's other than they are fairly pricey. I'd like to build a lid for a RTT to sit on and make it easily removable. Any suggestions on what i should do if i do end up buying this?

Feel free to move this if I posted it in the wrong spot.

how about hinging the lid on the side and using gas struts to hold it open?

this is my raft trailer, it was built for a couple of snowmobiles originally, but the deck was removed and a box built in it's place. the deck was then hinged on the side and I use struts to hold it open (even with 200+ lbs of boat and gear on top). the box is about 7' x 6' and the lid/deck is 9' x 8'.

Very nice I am building a trailer myself and I am stuck on the hood shocks. Before I saw your post I wasnt sure if regular 80 to 100lbs shocks would work but it looks like you have no problems, heres my trailer

I don't recall what struts I'm using but they're much heavier than 100lbs, the deck alone weighs well over 200lbs (they may be 250lbs each). I'm going to bring the trailer back with me next time I go off island, I'll see what they are then. I do keep a stick in the trailer to hold the lid open even with the struts, if the deck ever fell on you it would kill you

I know this is an old thread though, I built this one to carry everything one could need in the outback.

35" tires, high clearance, Torsen axle, 2X2 box frame, sheet metal sides, rhino-lined inside and out, extra long tongue for tight turns.
