Nevada-April weather

I am thinking about a motorcycle trip through Nevada in April. Leaving from Logandale and heading up to Portland Oregon. Please look into you crystal ball and tell me what the weather is like. We have been in Logandale for the Clark County Fair each year for the past 5 years and I know that the wind blows but other than that it is fine weather. How about further north? Any problems I should be aware of?

There is a possibility of snow even in April, once you get north of Tonopah. I live at about 5,000 feet, just east of Lake Tahoe, and have had four inches of snow in a few hours in mid-April. The mountains just eight miles away are usually snow capped above 10,000 feet until mid June.

But that's just information. Not a reason to stay away. Most likely you'll have a great trip. The highways follow the valley floors, which mostly run north-south. Know where the passes are, watch the weather, and have a Plan B. It'll be great.

April tends to be cold and snowy. I think the majority of Easter egg hunts my children enjoyed were in the snow. With the snow you get wind, bad wind. In northern Nevada the most prominent spring weather is wicked wind.

Based on the responces, I have changed my trip plans to meet up with my brother (in Bakersfield, Ca) and then head on up to Oregon. I know the way, so the unknown aspects of the trip will be fewer.
