new canopy roof basket

had a cargo basket fabbed up at a local shop. it's now mounted on my new ARE canopy too! i'm happy with it, it's a little beefier than i would have liked, but it's bomber and will suit my needs. i'm now planning on some lights to mount on the front, i'm thinking light force 170's, any thoughts? they did a great job on the tire holder too.

Better stout than sorry!

The rack looks good with your new topper. I like the look and performance of the Lightforce 170's myself.

Looks good. Having the lights that far back won't be a problem for them? what lind of pattern are the 170's?

You'll be happy it's over built after a few years of washboard roads or when your spare stays put in an accident. Looks great, I really like the way your truck looks. Add some sort of bull bar in the front and if I wasn't a confirmed Toyota nut, I'd be tempted by the Canyon/Colorado.

thanks for the comments. i am glad it's stout, my only concern is will the canopy be the weak link in the chain, and i suppose only time will tell. as for the lights, i'm still deliberating what kind to get and where to put them. i'm thinking some driving lights pointed up and ahead will do the trick for my situation. my reservation about mounted up on the rack is that alot of the trails i travel are severely overgrown and those lights may be at risk of being damaged. Daveindenver, thanks very much, and coming from a toyota nut to boot! one day i'll have a winch bumper up there, but first things first.

I think you are correct. Watch for cracks starting from the mounting points. It would be good to enlarge the mounting feett by ~400%. How big is the backing plate under the mounts?

Looks good!

It's a thing of beauty:steak:

I'd consider some sort of internal support system attached to the bed perhaps?

it's actually just large washers under each bolt, 4/foot, and 6 feet. the reason for the small feet is my canopy has a large "honeycomb" section on the roof, and i didn't want to drill through it, so the feet needed to be small. i don't plan on loading it up with alot of weight, so hopefully it will suffice. thanks for the comments.
