I've been trying to upload pictures of my new (to me) 99 FG but it's not accepting the files. Anyone know if there are tricks to getting jpg's uploaded?

I reviewed it but the picture is on my own computer, not on a website and for some reason it won't upload it. I've uploaded pictures to other forums using this same software without a problem.
I keep getting a message that there is a problem with the Expedition Portal database when I ask it to upload.

Problem

Hi Kerry
I just had the same prob. I don't think the problem is at your end. I couldn't attach thumbnails in jpeg or gif format as I usually do but was able to download a url for a pic just now.

Keen to see your the pics.

Way to go, Kerry!

I know you have been planning this for a long time. Congratulations!

So, are you still planning on putting a shell on the utility body? Have you found one that fits it, or were you waiting to get the truck in-hand?

Really looking forward to the build thread. I think you are going to end up with a great rig.

Good one.

Hi Kerry,
Is the plan to retain the work body and build on top of that or scrap it and start from scratch? Sure looks good.

Plan is to keep the utility body--it has lots of storage- and put a slide-in truck camper on it. I'll be getting rid of the lube/oil tanks etc.
Right now my thoughts are focused on a popup camper since I believe that with a pop up camper it should fit inside a shipping container.

Hi Kerry

Hi Kerry, I like the idea of bare rims but where do you keep them. We looked at the idea of getting 4 discs wheels made, maybe with some grooves machined in to the edges for a little traction. Only talking circles cut out of plate. That way they don't take up much space and they would be even smaller in diameter. That should drop the height considerably.

Do you hope to slide a camper in between the existing boxes? Can you replace existing tanks with water/waste tanks in the same location?

I like the idea of circles for wheels.
Yes, I hope to slide a camper between the existing boxes. It is 54" wide so I know some campers will fit. However, campers with a wider section designed to fit behind the wheel wells of a standard pickup box, or extended outward above the level of the wheel wheel areas will not. I looked at a Hallmark yesterday and it had this problem. I will have to bring the floor up to the level of the raised portion of the floor which accommodates the dually wheels. My plan is to use 2x6's and treated plywood. I'll probably have some kind of door to access the space from the rear. Raising the floor to the level of the wheel boxes will also put the camper up high enough to clear the top of the storage boxes (I think).
I was thinking about possibly putting some kind of tank in the forward space where the oil/lube tanks currently reside. I also planned to store my canoe camping equipment in there if I wanted to go on wilderness canoe trips and didn't want to pull a trailer behind the truck.
My current plan is to try to find an inexpensive older pop up camper that is cheap enough to be considered experimental.

This was going to be my strategy when I was considering vehicles that otherwise would not fit. My plan was to have the wheel blanks fabricated from T6 aluminum to minimize weight while stowed. You would need two seperate types for the Fuso, one for the inner rear wheel retaining studs and one for the front lugs.

Regarding container heights, you also have the option of an open top container. They can be bent up when it comes time to load, so be careful if you are at maximum width. I know a guy who twice had to round up fork lifts on the docks to spread bent open top containers so he could load his expedition vehicle.

And, in general with containers, it is best to go out to a dock or shipping area and measure a few samples yourself. You will likely find some variations.

Hi Cube containers (the tall versions) are not as common as standard and may be harder to obtain/book in low volume ports.
