New Offroad Trailer Project

Here is my new project I picked up yesterday. It was a good enough deal that I had to buy it. This will very much be a work in progress. I plan to slap new bearings, races, and seals in it today. I will use this trailer more or less as is for the rest of the season. Once winter gets here though I will start a complete rebuild.

First Mod... A good use for my Wilderness rack that was replaced by a Hannibal. ( Hannibal is getting powder coated right now and will be installed on the Xj when done)

Because I am planning to buy a Maggniola roof top tent to go on the Xj this trailer will be used primarily to haul basic camp gear, firewood, ect.

You should put the tent on the trailer. Ryan and I were talking about this last night. If you go on a trip it is nice to leave your trailer in camp and not have to put your bed away as an option or take it with you if you are moving point to point.

I saw this for sale and thought of you and was told not to call you because you would buy it. I was going to call yo anyway but I forgot so I am glad that you were able to pick it up.

Now see this is the decision that is keeping up at night right now. The trade off is with the tent mounted on the trailer I have to have the trailer with me to camp no matter what. I plan to have my engel 45 mounted in the back of the Xj and with the tent up on top I am able to just go out and do some simple camping without the trailer. And this is why I decited to go with the Maggiolina, very easy to setup and take down. This would be mainly for quick weekend trips near by. For longer trips I can bring the trailer with more equiptment. One other thing troubling me in my decision is that I can only fit the small Maggiolina on the Xj. Where I could mount a larger tent on the trailer.

I think that it is from Wells Cargo. Big Bear can correct me if I am wrong.

It is a Wells Cargo that has been modified. Of course it was much lower to ground, but the box use to be taller. The previous owner cut the sides down and flipped the axle.

I have eyed those little trailers before thinking that they would make a cool offroad Cargo trailer. You should make the rear door open like a small awning for rain protection if you have the head room of course.

It is to short, but that would be cool. I am thinking it is not a bad heigth for a table though.

Very nice, that has some serious potential. Look fwd to following it's build.

Yeah I am having a hard time keeping my hands off of it and I've only had it for less than 48 hours. I have an old M416 frame that I will be cleaning up and when it is ready I will cut everything off the bottom of this trailer and will be mounting it to the M416. Of course that is just the beginning.

I don't see what the problem is. Little RTT on the Jeep. Big RTT on the trailer. :sombrero:

You're welcome! I'll help anyone spend their money.....

:sombrero: Looks pretty similar to yours, huh RL???

Neat, I like the roof on it, wonder where that came from?

Now, I can just see The President leaving Washington DC, in a bunch of Black Cad Escalades and Black weapon trailers--look out
