Hello All... I recently sold 2 Jeep Cherokees and am about to sell my 1987 K5 Blazer. I picked up a 1998 Discovery. It needs brakes, some interior switches, and some exterior light bulbs. Other than that, it is in decent shape. I drove it 176 miles back to Philadelphia (I got really lost) from Jamaica Queens... It did very well and I was impressed with it's roadworthiness. Once I sell the K5 Blazer, I will begin getting the Discovery ready for daily usage...

congrats and welcome. do the brakes yourself. it is amazing how easy they are to do on a land rover, and it's time to learn the vehicle. get yourself a workshop manual and put it by the toilet on a golden table!

Nice! Congrats! You might want to contact Cameron (cambo on lrrforums.com) as he is parting out two DI's. He might have the parts you need for cheap!

Great looking Disco! Is that the Safety Devices roof rack? If you are having to replace rotors I just installed a set of the DBA Golds on the front of my 90 and so far really like them.

thanks...

Thanks for the responses and warm welcome guys. I ordered the rave cd and I have some catalogs coming in the mail. Maybe I will try the brakes myself this weekend. I need so much little stuff it is almost overwhelming...

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you Andrew... I'm not sure what kind of roofrack it is actually...

Nice rig! Do the brakes yourself. the first brakes I ever changed were on my d-90. Very easy to learn as you go. As opposed the my wife's saab. That sucked...

The rack looks like an SD for a DII, based on what I see.

I agree, it really does look like a SD rack. Nice find as I hear those are getting harder to source and I still think it's the nicest looking rack for the DIIs.

Do the breaks yourself, use only stock LR pads (IMHO). If you have to do the rotors use either stock LR or try the DBA Golds. I think the stocks are about $75 ea and the DBA's are around $120 ea. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!
