slight PITA to get to but not too bad...way heavy to pop the top though but with 2 peeps its no problem...love the extra storage and a rocket box is on the way. i was thinking of getting one of those tire steps to help access it...overall a good addition, especially when keeping the camper in the truck full time, let us get a little more utility out of it! cheers

Looks good, I can definately see their utility for a full-time setup for you.

I pulled mine off prior to leaving for my last trip and it turned out to be a great decision, I never would've been able to park in San Diego anywhere near my hotel if I had them on.

Did you weigh the tracks and rack before mounting them? I'm just curious how much weight you added vs. how much weight it feels like you added.

I just picked up a new/used Yakima rack and crossbars from a neighbor a couple of weeks ago, that I thought would be a good place to store a couple of Jerry cans.

I still don't know if that's where I want to store fuel, but the rack was hardly used and a good price, I just need the tracks. Before proceeding, I'm wondering if the weight gain will be more of a hassle than not having extra fuel.

kc, sorry i never got back to you on this topic...i didn't weigh the rack prior to install...pretty light though other than the bars...i think they are 64" and at least 15lbs...with the rack empty poping the top is no problem...i think this winter i will put a rocket box up there (anyone have on for sale?) for skis and gear and that will definately make it hard to pop but the storage will be great. anyway, i would recommend the rack...its just nice to have and personally, i think it looks cool :) ! cheers!
