New SPOT Owner with Questions

Hi! Not sure if this is in the correct forum. I just picked up a 2nd hand gen 1 personal tracker to use in my vehicle. Nothing came with it besides the unit, and I was flipping through the online users guide and noticed on the newer models it has a boot logo. This feature allows google maps to be updated and let people watch your route.

Question 1 - Does my unit allow me to do this?

Q2 - How do you guys mount yours? I was looking at RAM mounts, but then remembered my EZPass vecros to the windshield. Can I do the same for this little guy?

Thanks all! I searched around some and didnt find much in the way of answers. Sorry if this is all repeated info.

Cheers!

You can set your unit to track your location every 10 minutes via the Spot Adventures page. You have to create the accounts and link them together. I believe it's pretty well covered in the manual and on the Spot Adventure page.

All you have to do is turn on the unit and once it's started, press the On and OK buttons together for 5 seconds. That puts out a position every 10 minutes.

I also use another website that uses the Spot data, http://spotwalla.com/ It does it a little differently than Spot does, and keeps your data long term.

I keep mine in a small camera bag and leave it up on the dash when it's on. That works fine for me.
