New To forum New to Vaning!

Hello All,
After dreaming for some time of a weekend warrior camper van/ family adventure mobile the better half has finally conceded..
We are outdoors people, have 2 dogs (boxers) and a baby on the way. It is important to us both to raise our child in the outdoor and not shelter them as many do. We figure having a mobile home base will only make things easier on all to continue to hike, travel and fly fish. I have plans to pick up a 2012 e250 passenger and build out a simple (budgeted) rig, and add to it as we go.
The van I'm looking at must have been a church van or something as it had aftermarket seating arrangement. It affords for more leg room between the front seats and the first row.
My current plan is to rip out all but the 1st row of seats, install swivels for both front seats for a "living area" and then build out a full size bed for the rear cargo area.
Eventually we will install a pop-top or a full fiberglass roof but for now we are just going to through a roof rack on it and run it as is.
Question:
-Does anyone out there have experience with a similar build out or a family setup?
I would love to see some pictures or receive some advise.

Thanks

Have fun, but remember two things. Keep weight in mind and plan on doing it twice.

I second this, the first skill you need to acquire is how to properly search this forum and others.

add this expression to your Google searches " site:expeditionportal.com " to search the threads of expeditionportal, I've found to be the best way to search the threads of this site (or any forum for that matter), better than using the in-house search function.

I start out by using the shotgun approach, but the early key is in semantic- learning the keywords and "lingo" to search for is half the battle.
