New to landies - trailer setup question on LR4

I made the switch from a 1990 FJ62 (12HT diesel conversion) to a 2010 LR4 HSE Plus last summer. I'm used to doing some work myself so I bought the IIDTool BT to add to my tool box. I just installed the towing kit with OEM electrics and such. I wish to find out exactly what parameters need to be set to what in order to make the LR4 towing aware.

Under BCM there are four towing parameters. Could anyone confirm what the correct settings are?

1. Towing bar: yes (I would think)
2. Trailer module: 7 pins USA (I'm pretty sure)
3. Trailer stability assist: not sure (what's this and do all LR4s come with?)
4. Trailer towing ball: not sure

Thanks!

You should not have do to anything in the BCM to make it towing aware.

All LR4's have trailer stability assist, it is an extension of the vehicle's own stability control system.

For my 2011 LR4 ..........

Towing a 5000lb camper.

- Air suspension = no load leveling / equilizer hitch required
- Trailer wiring harness, 7-pin, VPLAT0013
- 3rd gen Hitch LR040248
- Drop hitch and appropriate size ball - Check the load rating on the hitch. The cheap ones sold by the auto parts houses are typically rated for light duty (that's why their cheap). The receiver hitch of the LR4 is actually too low for the trailer so I have flipped the "drop" hitch.

The only issue I have not found a good clear answer on is the typical anti-sway built into the equilizer hitches vs. trailer stability assist. So far I have been towing my 5000lb camper with no equilizer and no anti-sway. The LR4 performs great as a tow vehicle.

Anti sway hitch bars and the stability assist do separate things.

Bars keep you from getting into situations while stability assist helps you get out of situations.

The OP is asking about the CCF entries via IID. Hopefully one of the guys from IID will post up. Stability assist does not come enabled from the factory to this market. Essentially uses traction control and anti sway when a trailer is connected to the factory wiring to reduce sway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goK-qm_IQ5Y

So that is a bonus for the IID tool since the dealer charges extra.

Couldn't tell you what the tow ball config is specific to. What are the entries for it?
