So I built my family a lightweight adventure trailer thinking we would just pull it with my wife's Jeep Renegade. It became very obvious that the renegade was far from the ideal vehicle to pull a trailer. That combined with all the other outdoor activities we do (rafting, mtn. biking) it was obvious we needed to start looking for a more capable adventure vehicle. I have always been a Toyota guy (91 Single cab, and 97 SR5 access cab were my previous 2) I started looking. Not a great time to buy a used car, especially a Tacoma but we have been limping along with the Renegade long enough, it was time!
Found this 2008 Tacoma SR5 4x4 double cab long bed with 163,xxx miles. Toyota tech/mechanic owned. Upgrades: aftermarket exhaust, K&N filter, 17" forerunner wheels instead of 16" stock, Aftermarket Alpine radio with bluetooth, 60% on Toyo Open Country tires, rear suspension upgrade (add a leaf), LED headlight from a newer model Tacoma, Weathertech floor mats, Optima Red top battery, Leer Camper shell. Interior is IMMACULATE!! Exterior 8/10.
I don't have the money to do a bunch of mods on it but I am excited to get that trailer behind it and get up into the mountains. I think we now have the perfect little set-up for weekend camping trips. I feel very lucky to have found this truck. I hope it runs for another 200,000!!!
