New to me - Maggiolina Adventure tent!

Today was the first full day with the Adventure strapped to the 4Runner. I was a bit nervous about, well, everything, but the truck handled the same, maybe even better on the dirt roads across to Cochiti Reservoir (NM). It shook the bolts loose so I need locktite or something - anything you recommend? At the lake, set up camp with the tent up, a curry cooked on the manifold on the drive over, and a cold beer. All in all, a great first day out!
I'm very happy.

I wouldn't recommend Loctite but definitely use lock nuts. The plastic center type commonly found at hardware stores should be fine. Using Loctite on this application would be a little difficult since it can take some time to bolt up especially if you have little room between roof and rack.

Looks great on your rig. Just remember to take it easy till you get used to the extra weight up top and pick your lines carefully on off camber trails. So far I haven't had any issues with mine and I've been on some pretty difficult (for me) trails.

Thanks, good to know. I'll take one in and see what I can find at the hardware store this week. I'll take it slow but I do like the dirt roads for sure!

Looks like a nice spot to test it out. Glad it has not affected handling too much. I guess we needed to tighten the bolts even further. Enjoy!

Even camping at home, I took a nap up there with one dog and a kitten hanging out inside the truck. Harold kept running away when I'd climb the ladder and Rosie watched from the gate!

Hey I just sold my old Adventure size small to a girlfriend of mine. I really liked that tent. The blue color of the fabric is supposed to simulate the mediterranean I believe. I think I heard that from lemmstreak.
I removed the rails from the top because they were damaged anyway when I got the tent (Craigslist find). I fiberglassed over the bracket holes.
She loves the tent and ended up painting it black with plasti-dip.
She uses Yakima racks but made her own bottom plates for bolting it on the bars. They are not heavy enough and when she hit a ditch the tent moved forward about 4 inches.
For my new maggiolina, I have some crazy strong plates I found laying around. I will try and find a picture, but the factory plates are perfectly fine too. Just don't use thin plates like you would find at a hardware store because you cant torque it down enough apparently.
By the way, the mattress in your tent is way more comfortable than the one in my new tent.

Enjoy!
