New vs used arb 50qt fridge

New 50 with cover, wireless monitor, free shipping, no tax for $877
Or craigslist has a used one with cover for $500. It's a 2011 and sounds like it was used often. 5 years of use worth $377?

My personal rule of thumb is used = 30%!off retail right off the bat. No offense to certain folks but I've found that on enthusiast sites people tend to think their junk is golden. "Six months old, only used twice. Amazon is $900, mine is screamin deal at $750". Or even better "won in a raffle, still in box, never used. $800. Brand new, save $100!"

Even if it's still in the box, why would I give $800 to some unknown internet person when I can spend another $100 and get from a place I have some recourse if it goes south?

My long winded ranty way of saying you're probably better off going new in this case. :)

That ok4wd deal is awesome. Buy once cry once.

Definitely go new right now with the free cover and remote monitor, those are almost $200 worth of extras right there.

I agree. Too many people are trying to sell used stuff for only a few bucks less than you can get it online. Why wouldn't I want to wait a couple days and get something with a warranty for about the same price?

One reason is because on some sites you can ask any ridiculous amount of money you want for something and no one is allowed to call you on it. You can have your choir pipe in and crow what an awesome deal it is, and no one is allowed to challenge.

And enthusiast sites tend to be populated with die-hard cool aid drinkers. Go to any site with 7.3 or Cummins in the title and those pieces of gear are priced like gold plated gold.

^ This. We got burned on another forum by someone we were told was a trusted seller/member, all around great guy, would never screw a fellow jeeper etc. He blew sunshine up our *** to the tune of $800+ for a new in box, only been open to take pictures etc mt45. What we got was a doa fridge in a ups store box that was not only not new (new in '12) but had a hard life and two previous owners before we got it. I pride myself in being able to judge people and know good from bad but my instincts were dead wrong and it cost us an $800 dollar lesson, a little bit of pride and trust. Hence my vote for buy new. And most importantly - buy from a seller that is reputable.
