Hi everyone. I am stationed in Puerto Rico with the Coast Guard. I have been looking for a Montero as a second vehicle here to use in the mountains, take to the beach, etc...

I have narrowed it down to a 1988 SWB 160k

and a 2000 LWB Endeavor package 160k

Apparently I can not post links, but both can be found by doing a search on clasificados online pr... The 88 is red and black, and the 2000 is white and gray in Bayamon...

Both have had timing belts done recently. The SWB 88 just had all new bushings etc in the front end.

What are some things to look for? I saw the 88 SWB today. No rust, good shape for the age.

Looking at the LWB 2000 tomorrow. It has the 3rd row in it....

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Excellent, welcome to my home country, making me homesick it has been 4 years of not been back home, LOL If you look a bit more you might come across a soft top SWB, available also in the island but can cost some money.
They are awesome to explore the island, there are lots of them. Myself, I will be shipping my LWB soon to Puerto Rico so I can have a 4x4 every time I go back to visit.

Here in Atlanta I got a 1988 SWB and a 1990 LWB, posted some pics in the picture section page 180.

Ah! I love it here so far! I'll stay as long as they will let me!

I believe I'm gonna pull the trigger on the SWB 88. Should pick it up Monday if all goes according to plan

Thanks for your service. I spent a good bit of time there in the nineties with a software company installing systems in the Glidden Paint stores and really enjoyed the place. Do they still paint everything on the island for Christmas? I picked up a 98 PR model a few years back and it's been flawless with just basic maintenance. Good luck with yours.

Hey my friend, THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE here in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, the perfect vehicle to have fun here is a Montero by far!!!! also, that guy, JAVYPRO, follow his wise tips, that man is almost an expert in Mitsubishi, and by the way, my twin brother too. LOVE YA BRO.
The good thing of buying a Montero here in the island is that you can find 'em with low millage and pristine conditions, because here people love these vehicles, and as you could notice, the 4x4 fever here is but hi!!!!
