I got the F.R. 2.4M in tall. It looks great and was well thought out. It is quiet, of course louder than naked. The tall is just right, especially if you want to slide a table between the rack and roof. As for the sun roof, the wind deflector would interfere with it in the up position without modifications. With the roof open the wind deflector pushes mucho air into the cabin. I have active kids and decided to disconnect the sun roof switch to prevent any damage. I haven't had the whole family up there yet, but it could certianly handle it.

I've heard from others who've had first hand experience with the 2.2M and 2.4M that the 2.4M is a lot noisier (due to air hitting the windshield and then up into the rack...whereas the 2.2M can sit further rearward on the roof), but that could be only with a RTT or other gear up on the rack. Regardless, glad to hear you're not experiencing this.
I agree on the tall--just ~1" higher, but enables the flexibility of adding the table too.

And do you think they'll ever return to how they were before?
There's slim pickin's currently, which has really driven the price up.

great.....don't that figure....about the time this looks like a real option the price heads north....I cant do 40k then outfit one. I won't finance a automobile so I will have to really shop I guess.

Scarcity may be pushing the price up a bit, but the slow economy and resultant lowered amounts of available expendable cash helps the buyer in any price negotiations.
Prices seem to fluctuate in an almost cyclical pattern, and at least on sites like eBay you'll see Gs listed several times, each time with their reserve lowered...
Have patience and get the one you want and that meets your criteria - I waited a long time til I found mine (years?), and got it for a great deal.
