Nikon D40 users

Has anyone else experienced anything like this with their D40? Notice the odd overlap on the right side? Seems to happen on any picture I take in portrait rather then landscape.

Nevermind, seems to be something that happens when my Gallery Remote software rotates based on EXIF data.

Have you found any way to fix that? I shoot a Canon digital Rebel XT but I've got about 3 batches of pics that got screwed when they imported to my computer. The problem is similar to that but usually closer to half way through the pic and one side is often discolored.

MossMan, I think the solution to my issue is to use different software to rotate.

When you say import, is your process not a simple drag and drop? That's the only way I've ever copied images off a camera (or memory card), never really done any sort of import.

Does it auto rotate pictures for you when you import?

That's a good question. I don't think it did but I do think the option is there. The unfortunate thing is that they're long gone from the card and the only option is to somehow repair the file; which I don't think IS an option.
