Here are some shots of our 06 Nissan Patrol GL 7 seater exploring in the Caucasus- Azerbaijan highlands. Enjoyable and comfortable ride, with 2 tanks it goes forever!

Patrol with 2 tanks

I ordered my Patrol new from a specialist project supplier in Belgium called Demimpex. The motor is the 2953 cc turbo diesel 4 cylinder. No rocket, but loads of torque and 7 comfortable seats. It is fitted with a main tank (90 litres) and a sub tank (40 litres) which can transfer to the main tank with a switch on the console.

It is a basics - only vehicle, did not even have remote central locking when I got it. It came in 235 16 tyres on steel wheels. the current 265 Bridgestones protrude slightly on each side because I don't have the wheel arch extensions. It was not fitted with a Euro 4 particulate filter either, so it was built for export outside the EU.

Are two tanks a factory fitment on the Patrol?

Hei Harald! Takk for sist! (var innom og så på bilder fra Libya)

Not in Norway...... At least, not that I know of. But should be possible to source as used parts from other markets (or order new through Nissan, but this won't be cheap!).

If replacing original fuel tanks with i.e. Long Ranger fuel tanks, I was told they have a dual tank kit for Land Cruisers that would fit a Patrol (that does not have dual tanks originally). These tanks let you carry about 220 liters/58 gallons (145+75) on the Patrol.

220 litres would be very useful indeed!

I have had to replace my fuel filter regularly though...

more pics coming up shortly.

My 98 2.8 liter 6cylinder TD Intercooled GU Patrol has factory fitted twin diesel tanks.
Main tank 95 liters, aux 35 liters.
For extra power and better burning of diesel, have LPG fumigation fitted, tank holds 35 liters.
LPG injected is anywhere from 0% to Max 16% at full throttle settings.
The gas fumigation has increased the HP from the factory rated 90 to 120, an excellent result, well worth the expense.

Welcome to ExPo!!

I've read and seen pictures of Aussie Patrols that have LPG fitted and it increases their mpg as well.

Nice rig! Many Americans are quite jealous of it as it's not available here.

It is not just for getting better MPG. In fact most people who do it, it is just an added bonus. The real reason to do it is to reduce EGTs. Water injection does this even better.
