No name awnings

I'm in the market for an awning and wondering on how the "no name" awnings perform. I like the price of some of these awnings and there's a 2.5x3m on ebay that looks pretty good.
I'm leaning towards a Rhino Rack awning though as I know there will be support and accessories I know will work.

who here uses an awning not made by RR or ARB?

If you're going for a lesser tier product, Smittybuilt also has an entire line of overlander products.

Shopping around, I found not much price difference between ARB and Smittybuilt awning systems, though - not enough savings to compel me to invest the time and money into a known lesser product, IMHO.

I had a good deal on the smittybuilt awning... but, despite the angle for drainage you see in my photo, it became very saturated from a bit of drizzle during the day. This season I need to look into coming up with actually waterproofing it.

In all honesty most of the cheaper awnings including ARB are made in one of a couple of factories in China. The biggest difference is potentially going to be quality control and warranty. I've spent some time with the Rhino Rack products and am a big fan. Great guys, and if you are in Colorado you can stop by their showroom and see everything in person before buying.

Ended up getting that 2.5x3m awning on eBay. Mounted it up this weekend and its not horrible but the quality isn't up there with Rhino Rack or ARB. We'll see how it holds up.

I got a bunch of pics, but apparently you can't post pics from the ExPo app so it'll have to wait until I'm home.

Thats pretty decent looking. I'd be interested in taking a closer look at it. Might have to buy one.

I'm guessing the rubber bits are to add support and stop the arms from rattling about when theyre in the stowed position.

One thing to keep in mind is to always always always stake down the poles with the supplied guy ropes, even if there is no wind. Thankfully mine never got damaged by the wind but the potential is there and boy would you be so pissed off at yourself!

Hows it holding up? Im thinking about getting this, as it would cost me about 70-100 bucks already just in parts- not including my labor.
