Northstar TS1000 comparison on different versions

We have a 1995 Northstar (Texson) TS 1000. Since I got some insurance money for dents in the roof from hail, I decided to look at a 2002 model for sale locally. Couple of things surprised me. It had a north/south bed as opposed to an east/west bed. This added 18"+ inches to the overhang. (2/18--Just measured another one and it was 23" longer--50" compared to 73" Wouldn't fit on my truck (Fuso FG) Overhang would hit the cab before the camper was fully in the 13' utility body. I was really surprised at the kitchen. Ours has a 2 burner cooktop and double sink with wide cutlery drawer and lots of under sink storage. 2002 had a 3 burner stove/oven and a single sink. Cutlery drawer was only about 4" wide and storage under sink was only about 8" wide making the kitchen area highly dysfunctional. Wardrobe forward of frig was also much narrower in the 2002 model, probably because the water heater is forward of the wardrobe whereas it is right at the back of the camper in the 1995. I also didn't like the propane tank in a locker at the very far back left hand corner of the camper (1995 as it far forward right side high up). 2002 version seems to make the tank susceptible to damage in a rear end collison.

Propane tanks are quite sturdy and no one plans for collisions. My issue with either the WH and propane tank being behind the rear axle is that it alters the weight distribution and center of gravity. It just makes the most sense to me to keep as much weight as possible between the axles.
