First I would like to say thank you for a fantastic site and forum!
Many things here to learn and dream about!
I will share some pics from a trip I made this summer from Trondheim to Bergen, Norway.
My WIfe is not from Norway, as I am, and she has only been here this winter!so I thought to show her some of the nice parts of my country.
Our ride was my 93 Toyota Hilux, 2,4L diesel, whopping 82 hp. quite original only extra is 3 Hella 3000 lights.
I have some plans for the vehicle, maybe for another thread!
Anyway, western part of Norway is known for its Fjords and mountains.
One goal for this trip was to get to the Highest in Norway Galdhøpiggen. which is 2469 meter or 8100 feet.

Anyway first stop Otta valley, nice camping site with natural pool.

Some of the river feeding the pool

Next Strynefjellet, all tarmac we såw some reindeer with calves

After this rather frigid landscpe we went trough 3 tunnels and ended up with this view out to Stryn

IMG_2710.jpg

Halfway down to the vally floor, this river gorge cut through the road

IMG_2720.jpg

Nice farm-land before we go up to Brikdals-glacier

IMG_2737.jpg

Famous waterfall

IMG_2749.jpg

Briksdals glacier, which is an "arm" of Jostedalsglacier northern europes largest glacier, this one is quite small now, but according to the local ranger, it is quite big on the top, so in a few years it will be down to the lake again.

No cars allowed, we had to walk, its about one hour walk, easy pace.

One third there, starting to regret it... :)

IMG_2844.jpg

Small hut on the top, one man actually live there alone in 2 months, selling food and drink to tourists.

We slept in realy nice camping site, after crossing "sognefjellet" 1450 Meter.

IMG_2880.jpg

and are soon at "sognefjorden" norways (maybe the worlds??) longest fjord, 220 kilometer. This is the very end of it.

IMG_2902.jpg

On the other side of fjord, and another montain crossing (vikafjellet) we came to this realy nice place, you can see the road to the right of the waterfall.

IMG_2913.jpg

Now in Bergen Norways second largest city. A big old sailing boat is ready for some Fjord cruise.

IMG_3002.jpg

Got to see some old Monestry, from 1200 century, "lyse Kloster"

IMG_3008.jpg

Then I got an Mackrell, it fed three people that evening

Thank you for looking! This trip made me want to go for more vehicle based tours, and seeing my own country trough the "eyes" of my wife, gave me another wiev of it, I dont normally stop at every waterfall and such, but now I did and I experinced the beauty of them in an other way than before!

Thanks again for all the good stuff to find in this site!

WOW!! Maybe someday I can make a trip over there, but then again, it is hard to leave Colorado.
What kind of 4x4`s can I rent over there, if I came to visit for 2 weeks?
Thanks,
Scott

I think you can rent almost every kind of vehicle, but unless you come here in winter, its hard to find excuses for the extra cost of an 4wd, since Norway has very strict policies about driving outside of roads. Thanks everybody for kind words about my pics!
