Not exactly an Expedition trailer - but a handy base camp - 13' fiberglass camper

I'm selling my fiberglass U-Haul trailer because I finally found a trailer that I've been looking for for four years. the U-Haul is in great shape and has new side windows and LED Tail Lights. I'm installing a new vinyl plank floor over a 1/4" Hardi-board mold proof base layer this week.

This model has a double bed in the back and two bunk beds in the front, stove, sink, ice box, and a porta-pottie stored under the front seat/bunk.

The previous owner fitted a roof top air conditioner in place of the traditional swamp cooler.

I have a custom made $700 fitted cover for the trailer that is included.

The previous owner wanted a trailer to take his little girl to Disney World in Orlando. He was a personal friend of the U-Haul district manager in Chicago. When U-Haul started selling off these trailers they went to a lot where they were collecting them prior to the sale and he said there were over sixty trailers all lined up. They walked the whole lot and picked the nicest one out of the sixty. He only sold it when his little girl was getting married a few years ago and they wouldn't need the trailer any more.

I've enjoyed this trailer very much and it will make a great traveling companion to a new family.

It weighs around 1500 lbs. and is 13 feet long. It takes a 2" trailer ball.

I'm in Roswell, GA just north of Atlanta - I'm asking $5,800 for the CT-13.

I'll post some interior shots when I finish the new floor installation later this week.

Very cool! According to web sources, the U-Haul trailers were made between 1984 and 1985 by a subsidiary of U-Haul at a couple of locations in the Midwest. The trailers have a steel frame, and independent suspension with a torsion bar spring. U-Haul rented them until 1992, then sold them to the public.

Here's one source of information about the U-Haul trailer
http://www.oocities.org/ttlic_2000/uhaulinfo.html

In general, fiberglass trailers have proven to be very durable. Boler, Scamp, Burro, Casita and many others have manufactured fiberglass trailers over the years.

Before this camper I had a Boler 13' trailer and it weighed around 500 lbs less than the U-haul. The U-Haul has double wall construction and a MUCH heavier frame since rentals were it's target market.
The frame is signifigantly heavier duty than the other trailers of this type and the big aluminum rear bumper was designed to protect the fiberglass shell from people who weren't neccesarily masters of the art of backing trailers up. I have seen one of these where the torsion axle was replaced with one with a different drop angle that effectively raised the trailer up by around six inches and allowed a bigger wheel/tire combination. I'm not sure if they were 14" or 15" wheels (stock is 13").

Setup is a breeze - back the trailer into position, unhook the hitch, drop the jacks, open the door and get the camp chair out - camp is set up and its time to relax.

Here are a couple of pics of the interior - I'm not done installing the chestnut pattern vinyl plank floor yet - but this will give you an idea of the layout. I also have a 1-1/2" foam mattress topper for the bed area that really makes the bed comfortable.
You can see that the front bunks are kid sized - we saw a family of five (and two dogs) climb out of one of these at a fiberglass trailer rally a few years ago. There are a number of ideas out there for bed rails to keep small children from falling out.

The Porta-Potti stores under the front lower bunk

The U-Haul and its replacement - I got "trailer disease" where you want something just a "little bit bigger" - actually I just missed this Eriba when it was on the market four years ago and the guy who bought it before I could get to it decided he needed something a bit bigger and more modern. He bought an 18' Lance which was pretty cool and only weighs around 2400 lbs.

I finished installing the new chestnut pattern vinyl plank floor today - I would have done this several years ago but some of the materials for the job weren't available than. It looks great all trimmed out with foam core 1/4 round molding:

Floor is looking good. Used the same kind of vinyl planking in Casita.
I would be all over this if I would not already have my Casita. I actually would like to go somewhat smaller so this 13' would be ideal (my Casita is 16') But I really don't need two trailers.

Good luck with the sale.

New lower price $5,800 - the longer this stays in the driveway the more work I'm doing on it. Checked out the A/c, interior lights and stove and everything is working great. I started replacing all of the water hoses today since they are thirty years old.
