Not for USA: Prado 3 Door

Toyota announced that the three-door Prado will return to Great Britain once again. The 3 door model will be available only with a 3.0L diesel engine and 5 speed manual trans. A-TRAC is standard. Chance that this model will appear as a Lexus GX460? Zero.

This is the model that several teams ran in this year's Dakar Rally. The team in the video below was the second Toyota to finish, coming home 19th overall.



In Europe, Toyota markets a stripped version of the Prado 3 door called the KX or KXR. It's designed to be a starting point for the pro or dedicated amateur rally racer.

We have to take the FJ. Same exact chassis with a body that doesn't use room very efficiently. I'd rather have the prado, but the FJ was a selling hit for Toyota so good for them.
At least we get the 4 door prado in the form of the Lexus GX470. Now if only they offered a stripped down version like the true prado with a tire mount on the rear door! That would be nice.

I don't like the look of the 3 door model at all, or any of the Japanese SUVs in a 3 door body.

Uh, the 10 4runner is the SAME chassis as the FJ. Prado looks a bit more utilitarian, like a 4x delivery wagon.
Sick video though and i do wish we had some of the great choices in smaller vehicles that the rest of the world has.

Thats the old Prado 120...the current Prado 150 3 door is below....we've had it in Australia for over a year now.

:drool: oh that is COOL eh... I LOVE seeing that thing ripping through the boonies like that. Personaly I like the 120 in Rally kit better then the 150 w/o or the 150 in general... What an AWESOME truck that is. The 3dr. almost looks funny in civvy clothes, but it's PERFECT with the Van sides and the mud-flaps. SO SWEET!!!!

Not exactly. The '10 4R is the 150 series. The FJ is on a 120 series frame which is the same as the '03-'09 4R and '02-'09 GX470/Prado.

I think that 3 door GX is hideous but I bet the new 4R would look good in a 3 door.

I agree about a two door 4 Runner looking good, but like the FJC it would be too small for my needs.
